In order to continuously improve our work, we attach great importance to subjecting our offer to a constant process of quality assurance. This is done through customer surveys as well as through independent external bodies (Weiterbildung Hamburg e.V., TANDEM International) and through the establishment and use of our own quality management system.
TANDEM Hamburg is a member of Weiterbildung Hamburg e.V.
and is committed to complying with Weiterbildung Hamburg e.V.'s quality standards.
Since 2016, we are now also a certified provider of funding for continuing vocational education and training in accordance with SGB III and have since been successfully running language courses for the Employment Agency and Job Centre.

Our self-image
TANDEM Hamburg has been successful and well-known as a further education institution in Hamburg since 1985. We are proud of the high quality of our language courses, the modern orientation of the school and the versatility and flexibility of our offers. We place great value on pleasant human interaction and try to live this in our daily dealings with our clients, partners and staff.
We distinguish ourselves by constantly accepting and mastering new challenges in the field of education.
Our goals
Learning a language is the basis of intercultural communication, which plays a prominent role in a globalised world. We aim at supporting language learning through our friendly and motivating learning atmosphere and at arousing enthusiasm for intercultural exchange. The core of our teaching is task-oriented; the objective here is always improvement of our learners in everyday situations, in their studies or at the workplace. Our main concern in this is the clients' satisfaction with TANDEM Hamburg's offerings.
Our offering
Our high-quality language services are geared to the individual needs of our clients, the demands of a globalised education environment and towards internationally recognised measurement instruments of evaluation and examination. We demonstrate our proficiency in our German and foreign language courses daily in face-to face and online courses:
- Intensive and evening courses or individual tuition
- language training for companies
- subsidised SGB III measures
We have been taking a leading role in international development projects and training programmes for more than 20 years. There we show our competence in intercultural partnership cooperation and in the development of innovative target group-oriented educational offers.
Integration into the employment market and sustainability
Since 2016, TANDEM Hamburg has been an accredited provider of publicly funded vocational training according to Social Code III. Our activities with regards to career orientation and monitoring aim at integrating and reintegrating participants into the labour market. Therefore we heed and consider developments and trends at the labour market in the preparation of these courses. In order to further support the sustainable effectiveness of these activities, we help participants during the educational process and beyond.

Our requirements for quality standards are reflected in
- the choice of motivated and proficient teaching staff
- the choice of up-to-date paper-based and virtual teaching materials
- a pleasant and hygienically safe learning environment in modern, friendly classrooms
- media equipment suitable for learning
- our customer-oriented service
- the alignment of the courses with internationally valid testing and measuring instruments
Our clients
Our clients are learning a foreign language for private, vocational or academic professional reasons. Our corporate clients are looking for tailor-made education programmes for their staff.
Our groups of pupils or students from abroad are seeking and intercultural encounters and exchange, or would like to gain further qualifications.
We are happy to welcome all of them here. We are committed to their requests for lively and qualified teaching, for a transparent course structure, for sincere and friendly counselling, and for fair conditions of participation.
Our staff
Our employees have the highest level of competence, commitment and identification with the goals of our institution. Both internally and externally, our cooperation is characterised by mutual respect, trust, openness, reliability, responsible action and sensitivity in dealing with each other.
Our teachers identify with the goals of our institution and are committed to their implementation. They are native speakers and have excellent teaching and professional skills. They enjoy teaching, enjoy interacting with people and are happy to pass on their enthusiasm for their language and culture.
Our cooperation partners
We cooperate with colleges, universities and other educational institutions at home and abroad in the development of new forms of teaching and participate as project partners in EU-funded programmes. As part of the international network "TANDEM International", we work locally with various education providers and actively promote international understanding and education through this work.
