Alsterwasser ist ein beliebtes Sommergetränk; in Wahrheit besteht das natürlich aus Limonade und Bier, nicht aus Wasser aus der Alster. Denn die ist ein Fluss, der mitten durch Hamburg fließt, und auf dem unsere Gruppe gestern per Kanu unterwegs war. Kaum zu glauben, wir waren mitten in der Stadt und doch mitten im Grünen. Zum Glück ist niemand ins Wasser gefallen, und Kaffee und Kuchen hinterher haben die Aktion super abgerundet.

The Alster is known to be a big lake right in the middle of Hamburg’s inner city; however, this is really part of the river Alster flowing through Hamburg. A group of German students can be seen here exploring the head waters of the Alster by canoe. ‘You feel miles away from the town’, one of them remarks, and it’s only 20 minutes by bus from Hamburg’s main train station. A nice day out, none of us got wet (apart from a few drops of rain hitting us towards the latter part of the trip), and everybody enjoyed coffes and cake afterwards.
