• AllVip - Accessible Language Learning
The Socrates Project »Accessible Language Learning« successfully suggests new possibilities for learning a language to blind and visually impaired people. The combination of force-feedback appliances and 3D sound navigation creates an alternative user interface for a self-guides learning software that works without a screen reader and allows an interactive use of the PC. • ELLVIS - English language learning for visually impaired students
ELLVIS also intends to improve the access of visually impaired persons to language learning. As good learning material for visually impaired children is rare, it is essential to create innovative material which opens up new possibilities for this target group and makes it possible for VI children to take part in lifelong learning. We are partners of institutions in France, Romania, Italy and Germany.

• WoCoCom
Partnership in planning the linguistic and didactic setup and during implementation of the WoCoCom project "English for Works Councillors" from 1997 to 1999 with participation of institutions in the UK, Germany, Austria, and Denmark. This project received the European Language Seal award for innovative initiatives in the field of language learning and teaching.
• TULIP
TANDEM Hamburg was involved as a partner institute in the international language-learning project TULIP. Other partners were trade unions, language schools, universities and vocational training institutes in Germany, Poland, Spain and France.
• Toolkit for Portfolio Work
Partner in the linguistic and didactic planning and implementation of the project Portfolio Assessment 1997 and 1998 in cooperation with institutions in the UK, Germany and Finland.

• Prerequisites, contents and focus
This language course is good for beginners, false beginners and intermediate students. Unless you are a complete beginner, we will send you our placement test and will then set up level groups

• A selection of course topics: Talks about questions of your working environment, discussions and reading texts, creation of your own glossary on the topics ‘Industrial Relations’ and ‘Labour’. Objectives: Negotiation skills in English, making contacts, vocabulary build-up, overcoming speaking barriers and a general improvement of your competence to express yourself in English.

• All this is supported by the language learning software “Trade Union Interactive” that we have developed ourselves, which is easy to use, offers an abundance of learning possibilities and which on top of it all is great fun to use. That's not enough? OK, we will also organise contacts to colleagues in English-speaking countries, who may be in a similar position like you: A 'TANDEM partnership’ on the web will help you stabilise your long-term competence.
